Hey guys, yaseen arsalan here, welcome to
the 2nd episode of 2 minute health food hacks where we will be discussing Green tea! Please subscribe, like and hit the bell to
be notified of all my other 2 minute health food hack episodes I have lined up. Without further ado..Lets start that timer… NOW! Tea is the most consumed beverage in the world,
second only to water! In fact, In 2013, global production of green
tea was approximately 1.7 million tonnes. Thats a lot of green tea . The leaves used
are unoxidized, therefore containing more antioxidants and polyphenols than black tea
which is often fermented losing some of its benefits. A lot of evidence backing up green tea health
benefits comes from in vitro studies meaning in the test tube, so human clinical research
has not yet provided solid conclusive evidence for the same indications green tea is tested
for in the lab, a main one being cancer. But the research is still ongoing! Which is exciting. The most conclusive evidence we have is for
green tea ointment used for the treatment of genital warts and for lowering bad cholesterol
in your body called LDL. Blood pressure lowering effects are conflicting
though.. Which does not mean you throw out all your
green tea! Why, because it tastes good! But more so because this guy! EGCG epigallocatechin gallate. A mouthful, but this guy is a flavonol, a
class of polyphenols that holds 50% to 60% of green tea catechins. These Polyphenols might be able to prevent
inflammation, swelling, protect cartilage between the bones, and lessen joint degeneration. So who should drink it and who shouldn’t. Green tea is safe in most healthy adults,
since its basically almost 100% water. But Limit this to under 8 cups a day, because
of its caffeine content. So if you have anxiety and are sensitive to
caffeine, taking medications like amphetamines, ephedrines, nadolol, bortezomib and drugs
in its class you want to avoid drinking it. Also, avoid high doses of green tea extracts
supplements as it can cause liver toxicity and become pro-oxidant which damages DNA. This is not a complete list, cuz its under
2 minutes, but i still hope you learned something and know a bit more about green tea now. Let me know in the comments what you think
and As always, thanks for watching.
