  1. Hmm, I was under the impression that coffee reduces blood flow to the brain and is also has a negative effect on your bones in how it interacts with calcium. Is that totally wide of the mark?

  2. I DON'T THINK YOU'VE CONNECTED ALL THE DOTS THERE:
    1. IF YOU'LL REMEMBER IN ONE OF YOUR OTHER VIDEOS, YOU MENTIONED THAT DRINKING ALCOHOL CAN DO SOMETHING LIKE THIN THE BLOOD FOR HEAVY MEAT EATERS OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.
    2. SAME DEAL WITH COFFEE THEN, IF YOU'RE DOING HEAVY SMOKING OR ALCOHOL THEN COFFEE CAN MAYBE OFFSET THAT.
    3. WHAT I'VE FOUND IS THAT THE MORE RAW AND VEGAN THE DIET, THE LESS NEED FOR ALCOHOL TO THIN THE BLOOD AND COFFEE TO ENERGIZE THE BODY, BECAUSE YOU'RE RUNNING ON BLOOD THAT IS MORE THINNED AND ENERGIZED.
4.MY GUESS IS THAT MY DIET IS MAYBE 50% RAW VEGAN AND CONSEQUENTLY I HAVE NO DESIRE FOR ALCOHOL, BECAUSE MY BLOOD IS PRETTY THIN, I'M GUESSING.
    5. I DO EAT STUFF LIKE WHOLE GRAIN BREAD, GRANOLA WITH ALMOND MILK, NUTS AND SEEDS AND STARCH DISHES LIKE RICE AND BEANS, ETC. AND I'VE FOUND THAT THE MORE CONCENTRATED MY DIET IS WITH FOODS THAT ARE CONCENTRATED AND NOT JUST RAW FRUITS AND VEGETABLES, THE MORE I FIND COFFEE DESIRABLE. BUT I HOLD COFFEE TO ONE BLACK CUP OF COFFEE PER DAY, NO SUGAR OR CREAM IN IT OR ANYTHING AND I'M NOT EVEN SAYING THAT THAT'S GOOD OR BAD BECAUSE I DON'T EVEN KNOW, ALL I KNOW IS THAT IT WORKS FOR ME, BUT I PROBABLY WOULD BE BETTER WITHOUT IT.

  3. I had thought they did studies that showed the net complications of coffee outweighs the benefit. I question those kinds of studies as coffee is usually highly processed before consumption.
In my understanding the quality of coffee varies greatly. I'd be more interested in testing to find the most effective coffee and standardize that process than to find a specific component. I'm sure there are other things coffee might treat.
If they isolate a specific component, I expect what will happen is that a drug company will start selling it and then 10 years later they will find a high percentage with side effects and then there will be a lawsuit and the drug will be pulled and everyone will forget the whole food benefit. Or possibly worse, it will be sold as a supplement and then when they find side affects people will say coffee doesn't work.

  4. I'm a keen coffee drinker and have been for many years, good job too after watching this, it counters some of the damage from the heavy boozing I've done over the years. Word of warning though, too much caffeine consumption can increase blood pressure but not as much as alcohol does, so keeping to a limit is vital. People that drink alcohol heavily, on a daily bases (and have done so for many years), have also a greater size heart than people who drink causally or those who haven't drank before, as these folks will have a normal size heart. Alcohol thins the blood and puts too much pressure on the heart and hence why the heart increases in size from alcohol abuse (over the years). This is only one example of the damage alcohol does to the body, thinning of the blood also causes your brain to bleed. Keeping to small dozes or not drinking alcohol is without doubt the key to a good health, as far as alcohol goes.

  5. I stopped drinking coffee after 20 years recently- I can't see how all those withdrawal symptoms, plus the diuretic effects and daily adrenal stimulation is a good thing. But for people with major liver disease it might make sense to have some coffee.

  6. I'm against all non whole food ingredients and processed/buffered drinks and food.
Coffee is not something naturally eaten by human beings, unless ground up and processed into a drink.

  7. What are the beneficial components in coffee?  Is it the caffeine or is decaf just as beneficial?  What do you think about the low acid coffee that claims to have 7 times the antioxidants of regular coffee due to its unique roasting process?

  8. I quit regular coffee consumption about a year ago, and I feel better.  It has improved my sleep, and I get my morning stimulation from fruit consumption.  I do drink decaf once in a while because I really do enjoy the taste.

  9. This and so many other videos are fascinating and provocative.  I tune in daily to see what is new from Dr. Gregor.  Still, as I watch this it reads like a Dr.'s prescription, at least to me that is the implication.  Day after day we hear these studies, and no one can follow all of them, and if they did, it is sure that in a year many of the recommendations change.  It would be nice to hear what people make of this information and how they change their lives around it and if they have confidence in it.  Seems to me that once you embark on following this stuff you are devoting most of your time and diet to eating all kinds of weird stuff that does not usually go along with most of the stuff most of us were raised eating.  It's hard for a person or animal to suddenly deny all their history with food and go and eat stuff on the faith of a few videos with data that is not really that well understood. ??

  10. Then the question is, what kind of coffee do we drink?  How about the cans of black coffee from Japan.  They are quick and inexpensive and without any additives?  Does canned coffee work, or espresso, or drip filter, percolated ???

  11. Everyone loves your videos until you mention something that's popular from the people that sell "woo" to people. Same format, same science, but luckily they know better! You tell him, nataly raw! You know better because you have a hunch! Let's all complain about stuff we don't understand like vaccinations and then drink coconut oil from the bottle.

  12. Perhaps this is little proof that coffee enemas of the Gerson Therapy help detoxify the liver. Perhaps it's not quackary after all…

  13. You have to put the coffee up your butt. Hepatitis vaccines prevent liver cancer? Even if they did vaccines cause a dozen other problems.

  14. coffee gives me panic attacks due to so many years of drinking it and developing a reaction to it. I'd rather take my chance with cancer.
My husband would drink coffee all day if I let him, but his mood is crazy and he turns into a very mean person after drinking coffee.
Criticize me all you want but I think promoting something that gets you addicted and leaves you unable to function properly without it is a poor choice of topic.

  15. I don't see how stimulating your adrenal glands regularly is a good thing, but good to know that coffee has it's uses for special cases.

  16. it's the same as a doctor prescribing drugs to obese people!! we would rather take something rather than do something to help our health even if the taking something is bad for us too! go vegan!!

  17. I think tannic acid that is what you are looking for. Drink lots of it and it tans your liver. If your liver is tanned it absorbs more water and the fat gobules don't bother it so much. We likely consumed a lot of tannic acid as we were evolving. Commercialized foods don't have much of it, so that might be the primary reason we're in trouble. I don't drink coffee but I do drink green tea. I have two gallstones (one in the neck of the gallbladder) that bothered me pretty much every day until I started consuming green tea, lemon juice, and olive oil. The two gallstones might be because I have non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. I take a break from meat about once a week. I eat what I want now. I'll have pizza one day, KFC the next, and top it off with a couple cheese burgers. It has been 7 months since my last gallbadder attack and I'm just fine, no surgery needed. I told them to f off when they wanted to cut my gallbadder out, glad I did. ** On reflection, I guess that hypothesis falls apart when I consider that alcohol typically has a lot of tannic acid **

  18. Our Saturday morning coffee might help prevent liver cancer.

Watch this week’s video below or click the link to watch on NutritionFacts.org: http://nutritionfacts.org/video/preventing-liver-cancer-with-coffee

“Like” this if you’re drinking a cuppa’ joe right now for a chance to win my latest DVD!

  19. Well I'm allergic to caffeine and chocolate so I think I'll just not drink alcohol or soft drink or eat dairy meat or eggs and live a healthy vegan diet and hopefully not get liver cancer. I go crazy with coffee.

  20. So, if you don't have liver problems, does coffee still help? Or is it only if you are a heavy drinker etc?

  21. What makes this a little frustrating is that my mother died of liver cancer, but she used to drink 1-2 cups of coffee a day in the morning.  Mind you she also smoked, and put milk in her coffee.

  22. Why do we need more study?  So they can "isolate" something and provide it in "patentable" form?  Eff that, pass me the JAVA!  I prefer to purchase green coffee beans, roast in air-popper, grind with antique crank-machine, brew in press.

  23. majority of the cancer is caused by STRESS & inadequate good sleep. Coffee's caffeine raise cortisol in your body which is the super battery for stress. Too much coffee will make your body acidic, which creates a perfect place for cancer cells to spread. And not to mention coffee interrupts or prevent deep sleep which your body needs for healing during deep sleep. if videos or advertisement tells u coffee is good and increase your mortality… think again.

  24. my name is angela my question is I,ll have cirrhosis of the liver and my doctor say I,ll cannot have a transplant of a liver  fatty her says I,ll do not want to die I,m 47 I,ll drink regular sodas a lot and my medicines and my doctor do not want me to drink coffee and sleeping pills please help me

  25. I happy to hear this. I love coffee. got to have my two cups of caffeine in the morning. to reduce Cancer. good news. A nature herb may help.

  26. Scientists must be crazy, over 8 years ago they posted on the news that coffe damadges liver, today they posted that coffee undues liver damadge. Can't make up your mind?

  27. which coffee is decalf ok ?And black or is some cream allowed in it?More imfo needed and more specifics

  28. Coffee will raise your cortisol level. Cortisol is the main battery for cancer cells and also the reason why your body can't burn fat. so, if u r influenced by the video above, pls think again.

  29. It's only a matter of time before the government bans coffee so you can keep using their pills available at a pill popper location near you.

  30. We grow coffee in Hawaii. Our Kona coffee is" famous". I roasted and sell coffee because it one of our agricultural crop. I like to know what chemicals responsible for the protective action, since coffee bean is "hotly" roasted so acrylamide is formed. Also caffeine is a botanical pesticide; can't be the protective compound. The great ANTI-OXIDANTS they claim coffee has, that was in the RED CHERRY (polyphenol) of the coffee bean, which was dried up and THROWN AWAY. Dr. Gerger mentioned there are 1,000 compounds, would like to KNOW what they are, and which one has the cancer protective effect, because to my knowledge, knowing caffeine, acrylamide, and polyphenol thrown away, and the ill effect of caffeine on the heart and adrenal gland adenosine and blood vessel in the brain, I don't how drinking coffee is good for you. Georgie, MS, ND

  31. I stopped drinking coffee and changed to tea due to acid reflux trigger in coffee. I no longer have acid refux.

  32. Hello, Dr Greger. My aunt has been diagnosed with liver cancer today, we need help. Is there any way to augment her chances of survival?
    Please can someone respond?

  33. What does Dr. Greger think about the Hulda Clark liver/gallbladder flush? I have an underactive gallbladder and once in awhile I think it gets backed up and I'll feel pressure/pain in the early morning hours until i get upright. I have done a few of the liver flushes which use epsom salts, olive oil and grapefruit juice. They do work to relieve the pressure for quite awhile, but I'm just wondering if that is the right way to go, or if I should be doing something different?
