Why do they call it moon milk? Yeah, I think science called it moon milk because the moon’s out when you drink it. Hey, I’m Megan Mitchell and I’m here in the Thrive Market Test Kitchen. And today, I’m gonna talk to you about CBD. What is it? What’s it all about? Where does it come from? How to use it. I’m using a product today called Charlotte’s Web and I’m making two drinks out of it. I’m making a morning iced green tea with lemon and mint- so good! I’m making a nighttime, a sleepy-time tea, so my take on a moon milk. It has all of these things in front of me and I’m making this one first so it has time to steep. Usually you think of moon milk as a warm drink, but I’m serving this over ice because you do not want to heat up your hemp extract. You do not want to heat it up. Before we get started, please don’t forget to subscribe and comment and like. And once you subscribe, you’ll see a little bell. You’ll see a little Kristen Bell or a little Lake Bell. She should show up right here. You click her… No, it’s a real bell. Click that and it’ll alert you every time there’s a new Prep School video. Oh, also, if you’ve been sitting here wondering for all 30 seconds, what’s Thrive Market? It’s an online market that sells organic and non-gmo products. And, they sell hemp extract. Straight to your door. That’s how you take it. Let’s get started. I need 12 ounces of non-dairy milk. You can use any milk you like- cashew, macadamia, hazel, almond, oat. I would not recommend hemp because it doesn’t heat up very well. Unsweetened. And to this, I’m adding saffron. I feel like often when you see moon milk, it’s with turmeric, or a golden milk is made with turmeric. I like that I’m gonna get that beautiful orange-yellow color, but it’s from saffron. Doesn’t really have much of a smell, but if you’ve ever cooked with it, it’s a special little guy. Vanilla extract. I have 4 cardamom pods- green cardamom pods. I just want to gently crack them with my knife. Yeah, I was lying when I said gentle. I’m also adding orange blossom honey. And the reason is, I’m using Charlotte’s Web hemp extract and it’s flavored with orange blossom. So I want double the orange blossom flavor, double the trouble. But, if you’re a vegan, you want to keep this vegan, you could use whatever preferred sweetener you like. Okay, and I’m not gonna add the hemp extract at this time. Like I said before, you don’t want to heat it up. So, I’m gonna make this mixture. I’m gonna chill it down and then I’m gonna put a couple drops in my drink. Just want to bring this up to a gentle simmer, and once it simmers, I’ll remove it from the heat and I’ll let it sit for about 20 to 30 minutes. So, what is CBD oil? CBD stands for cannabidiol, one of 80 different phytocannabinoids in the hemp plant. And when you get all of them combined in a full spectrum hemp extract, like Charlotte’s Web, they’re better combined than individually, and they call this the entourage effect. Ooh, these pods really bloomed up. While my moon milk steeps, I’m gonna make my iced green tea. This is a cold brew. Did you know you could cold brew tea? I did not know that. You knew that? She didn’t know that. So, I have 8 cups of filtered water, 10 green tea bags. I’m gonna add my tea bags directly to this. Mint. Juice of one lemon. Another question: why do people use hemp extract products? They can help support a sense of calm for focus, management for everyday stresses and they support recovery from exercise-induced inflammation. You can leave it like this, but I like mine a little sweet. So I’m adding maple syrup. Keep it vegan. You can add whatever sweetener you like. Stir it up. So, this needs to sit in the fridge for about 4 hours, up to 24. The longer it sits the more it steeps and the more caffeine will actually be in it. Let’s pop this in the fridge. I think I already have one ready to go. I have my steeped cold brew green tea and I think my moon milk is cooled down. So let me grab it. It’s not hot. Okay, I’m gonna show you how I like to serve this. Get two different cups. Things are getting wacky. I’m gonna do the morning and I’m gonna do the night. I’m gonna do the night- the nighttime, sleepy-time, first. This is a cute little glass, huh? So this is cooled and I’ve strained out the cardamom pods and the saffron. All right, to this one I’m adding the orange blossom Charlotte’s Web hemp extract. You can do whatever you prefer, but this says 2 droppers so I’m gonna have 2 droppers. This mad me so happy, I don’t know why. Immediately when you you put your nose in, you smell the orange blossom and the cardamom. And it’s this beautiful color. And then when you drink it, it’s lightly sweetened. The hemp extract adds a nice orange blossom flavor without adding any sweetness. Okay, I’m gonna show you- I’m gonna show you the the next one. I’m gonna add the Charlotte’s Web hemp extract, but the lemon twist flavor to this one, because it’s the lemon in the mint green tea. And for this one I don’t want to put it all in the pitcher because it might just float to the top and then you’ll pour it out. So, make your cold brew and then do it individually per glass. You can see the little droplets. Totally different vibe- this one I for sure felt sleepy it’s like the flavors, it’s calming. This has the energizing green tea, the mint, the lemon. It’s very light and refreshing. Perfect way to start my day. If you want to learn more about Charlotte’s Web and hemp extract, Thrive Market actually did a couple videos with them. So they’ll be linked up above, so check them out. You can find all the recipes linked below and all the products that I used at Thrivemarket.com/prep school. Like, her gentle is really different than my gentle. My husband says the same thing. That’s ready to go. Ooh, excuse me!
